Women charged with sexual exploitation in Edmonton

EDMONTON – Edmonton police have charged two Ontario women with the alleged commercial sexual exploitation of another woman involved in prostitution.

Nadine Brown, 38, and Yolanda Mohabeer, 20, are accused by the alleged victim of benefiting financially from her prostitution in Edmonton during a one year period. The pair was arrested in late February.

Brown and Mohabeer are facing charges of trafficking in persons, living on the avails of prostitution of an adult, assault, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The Edmonton Police Service Vice Section has contacted police agencies in other provinces because they believe the women may have committed similar pimping offences outside of Alberta.

“We are encouraging members of the public to come forward and share information they have about these suspects,” says Staff Sgt. James Clover, EPS Vice Section.

“The EPS would also like to speak with anyone who has information in relation to the exploitation of those working in the sex industry.”

Brown is from Niagara Falls and Mohabeer is from Pickering.
