Edmonton police say man recruited Saskatoon girl, forced her into prostitution

EDMONTON – Edmonton police say they have arrested a man who they say recruited a Saskatoon girl online and forced her into prostitution.

It’s alleged the underage girl was lured last July to the Alberta capital, where she was sexually assaulted, beaten and forced to work as a prostitute.

Police say she was being held against her will in a motel room on the city’s south side but managed to escape and returned to Saskatoon.

Ali Saghafi, who is 25, faces various charges including human trafficking.

Police have also charged two other men with forcing an 18-year old into prostitution.

Investigators say another teenage girl helped the men lure the victim to a west-end motel.

Hamid Fazli Ghejlou, 31, and Shahin Ranjbar, 23, face several charges.
