CALGARY – Police have laid charges against two men after discovering drugs and weapons inside an apartment along 17th Avenue.
Officers executed a search warrant on Tuesday, seizing 20.6 grams of crack cocaine and 15.4 grams of marijuana from a residence in the 1200 block of 17th Avenue S.W.
They also found a machete, an Airsoft Uzi gun, an Airsoft Thompson sub-machine gun, three cell phones and over $8,000.
Police have charged 30-year-old Selwyn Marcus Caine with one count each of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of cocaine/crack for a purpose, possession of marijuana, trafficking in cocaine/crack and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
In addition, officers charged 24-year-old Djambou Teddy Wemini with one count each of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of cocaine/crack for a purpose, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of marijuana.
“The individuals that were charged this week, we don’t believe are connected to the recent violence that we have seen in Calgary,” said S/Sgt. Martin Schiavetta at a Thursday news conference.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, February 11th.
