TORONTO – Toronto police have arrested two men and issued a Canada-wide warrant for a third in connection with a double stabbing in the city last week.
Twenty-two-year-old Dwayne Goodwin died of his injuries after the incident while a second stabbing victim, who was treated in hospital for serious injuries, has since been released.
Police say there was an altercation between two groups of men known to each other in the city’s east end on Sept. 8.
Det. Rob North says the stabbings were “not a random act of violence.”
North says 19-year-old Vaughn Shears and a youth who can’t be named have been arrested and have been remanded in custody.
Police are currently searching for Mehmet Akkurt, 22, who is wanted on charges of second degree murder and attempted murder.
