SASKATOON – A Saskatoon man has been sentenced to 15 months for child harbouring in an international child abduction case that spanned four countries.

Alexander Levin, 47, learned of his sentence in court on Wednesday.

Levin admitted to harbouring his two-year-old daughter in the Philippines in an attempt to keep her away from her Brazilian mother with whom he was having an affair.

He had travelled with the girl and her mother to his native Ukraine for a vacation in July 2013. He then took his daughter to the Philippines where he left her with a seamstress before returning to Saskatoon.

The girl has been reunited with her mother.

Levin was given credit for the 108 days he has been in custody since his arrest.
