SASKATOON – A man has been charged with abducting his daughter in a case that spanned four countries.

Saskatoon police were first alerted to a possible child abduction in August 2013.

Investigators discovered the Saskatoon man traveled with a Brazilian woman and their two-year-old daughter to the Ukraine in July.

The 47-year-old man then took off to the Philippines with his daughter and left her there before returning to Saskatoon.

He was charged on Friday with international parental abduction and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning.

The girl has been located and is currently in the care of social services in the Philippines.

The investigation involved Saskatoon Police Service, the RCMP National Missing Children Operations, the Canadian Border Services Agency, Saskatchewan Justice and officials in Brazil and the Philippines.
