CALGARY – Public school board trustees have voted to rebuild a historic school, badly damaged by June flooding.
Elbow Park School, built in 1926, was partly split open when flood waters rushed in.
The Calgary Board of Education voted six to one on Tuesday night to demolish and then completely rebuild the school.
There’s no word on how much it will cost, but the CBE says preliminary estimates show that a renovation would cost at least fifty per cent more than rebuilding.

The school will be rebuilt at the same location in the city’s southwest where it currently stands.
The CBE will now submit the vote to the province for approval.
