The year 2026 marks another census year in Canada, and more than 30,000 Canadians could even find themselves working for the federal government to help make it happen.

The new census data from Statistics Canada shows that 304,000 children in Quebec have the right to attend regular English public schools.

Statistics Canada says immigration is the main driver of population growth, in part because of the aging population and low fertility rates in the country.

Almost one in six Indigenous people lived in a home in need of major repairs in 2021, a rate almost three times higher than for the non-Indigenous population.

New districts would be created in the eastern and northern Greater Toronto Area, central Ontario, along with the Guelph and Brampton areas.

For the 2021 census, it reported being unable to collect information from 63 First Nations reserves and other communities. Many did not provide permission for the agency to enter.

The release, which reflects data from 2017 to 2021, sheds light on the state of English, French and non-official languages in the country.

The data released Wednesday will look at family structure, including marital status, the presence of children, stepfamilies and multi-generational households.
