Shandro is a Calgary-based lawyer who was first elected in 2019 for the UCP and was a high-profile and controversial cabinet minister.

On June 8, Elections Alberta confirmed its election results, with both Calgary ridings showing an increase in votes for Alberta NDP candidates.

In the unofficial results published by Elections Alberta in the hours following the election, Calgary-Acadia went to the NDP by seven votes and Calgary-Glenmore by just 30.

Calgary-Acadia is a provincial riding located in Calgary.
