Waterloo police arrest three Brampton, Ont. youths following pharmacy robberies

Three youths from Brampton, Ont., are facing charges in connection with a pair of robberies at pharmacies in Waterloo.

Waterloo Regional Police were called to a pharmacy in the area of Woolwich Street and Falconridge Drive Wednesday night.

Investigators say at around 7:35 p.m., three suspects entered the store and demanded cash and narcotics before fleeing.

All three were apprehended with the help of Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau.

Police say one was arrested after a brief foot chase, a police dog tracked down the second, and the third was captured after the getaway vehicle collided with an unmarked police cruiser.

A quantity of suspected cocaine and a loaded firearm were seized by officers.

Investigators say the three have also been linked to the armed robbery of a pharmacy on Erb Street and Amos Avenue the afternoon of Nov. 25.

In that case, staff were held up by suspects with handguns, and handed over narcotics and cash before the suspects fled in a car.

Two of those arrested are 18 years old, the other is underaged.

All three are charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of a stolen goods, possession of suspected cocaine, possession of a restricted firearm, and disguise with intent.

One of the 18-year-olds is also charged with breaching a release order while the other 18-year-old is also charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle.

All three were held for a bail hearing.
