A high school and a Walmart on the Brampton-Caledon border were evacuated on Wednesday after a bomb threat, police say.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Rob Simpson said before noon, officers “received information regarding threats of a possible explosive device or devices” in Mayfield Secondary School and in the Walmart across the road.
The school and the Walmart, located in the Mayfield and Bramalea roads area, were subsequently evacuated, Simpson said.
Just after 12:45 p.m., OPP issued a tweet asking that people avoid the area for an “ongoing investigation.”
Simpson said no one was injured in the incident.
He added that there would be an increased police presence in the area as emergency crews “work to clear the involved structures.”

Around 5 p.m., officers were continuing to search the school.
The response at the high school was being led by OPP as it is located in Caledon, while the response involving the Walmart across the road — located in Brampton — was being led by Peel Regional Police.
OPP Insp. Insp. MaryLouise Kearns said officers currently don’t have any suspect information.
She added that the person who made the threat provided little information.
“They gave no information, other that there was a bomb located in the school,” she said.
Kearns said both the OPP and Peel police are investigating and working collaboratively.
In a news release on Wednesday evening, OPP said “no explosives were located and officers have since cleared the location.”
