‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy reveals series will end next season

There will be one more season of 'Glee,' according to creator Ryan Murphy.

TORONTO — The creative force behind Glee said this week the series is coming to an end.

Speaking at an event in Los Angeles, Ryan Murphy said Glee will wrap up at the end of next season, its sixth.

Murphy also said the death of Cory Monteith has altered his vision of how the series will end. He said the final season was set to focus on the relationship between his character Finn and Lea Michele’s character Rachel.

“I always knew that. I always knew how it would end,” said Murphy. “I knew what the last shot was — he was in it. I knew what the last line was; she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do.”

Glee, set at a fictional Ohio high school, debuted in 2009. In Canada, it airs on Global.

All of the actors playing students are in their 20s — from 20-year-old Jacob Artist (Jake) to 27-year-old Becca Tobin (Kitty).
