TORONTO – Miley Cyrus and Sinead O’Connor can’t stop their war of words — with O’Connor claiming Cyrus fans are taunting her to take her own life.

Asked on Tuesday if she and the 46-year-old Irish singer would kiss and make up, Cyrus replied: “I don’t know. Are we supposed to kiss?”

The question, which came up during a promotional appearance in New York for her new album Bangerz, follows an online feud between the two artists that started when O’Connor posted an open letter urging Cyrus to avoid letting herself be sexually exploited by the music industry.

“I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way ‘cool’ to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos,” wrote O’Connor.

The 20-year-old pop star responded on Twitter by comparing O’Connor to troubled actress Amanda Bynes.

Monday morning, Cyrus said in an interview on Today that she respects O’Connor but was taken aback by her comments.

“That was kind of crazy, but, like I said, I’m a big fan of hers, so it doesn’t really matter,” she said.

O’Connor, 46, fired back with another open letter complaining about a backlash against her by fans of Cyrus.

“As a result of what you did, I have had numerous communications from people urging me to commit suicide,” wrote O’Connor. “Not to mention, I have been the subject of literally thousands of abusive articles and or comments left after articles, which state that I and therefore all perceived mentally ill people, should be bullied and be invalidated.”
