Police have declared the “suspicious” death of a Collingwood, Ont., woman as a homicide.
In a press release, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said on Friday at around 8:20 a.m., officers received a report of a death in the Georgian Meadows subdivision.
Police said officers located a deceased female inside the residence. She was identified as 55-year-old Kinga Kriston of Collingwood, Ontario.

Police initially deemed the death “suspicious.”
On Saturday, police said they had charged someone in connection with the investigation and declared it a homicide.
According to police, officers do not believe there is a public safety risk, “as investigators do not consider this to be a random incident.”

“Local residents will continue to see an increased police presence in the area,” the release read.
Police arrested John Collins, a 57-year-old man from Orilla, Ont. He has been charged with first degree murder, OPP said.
