Edmonton – We know there will be at least six new councillors after election day on October 21, including in Ward 2 and Ward 5.
Kim Krushell announced she would not be seeking re-election for Ward 2 and Ward 5 Councillor Karen Leibovici is running for mayor.
It means the race is wide open in those wards.
The lone city-sponsored forums for Wards 2 and 5 were held Monday night.

Residents were eager to meet the candidates and hear their platforms.
The important issues vary greatly for some residents.
“As usual, traffic is a big problem. Potholes in the city are a big problem. Transparency from city hall as to what’s going on. These are some big issues,” says Ward 5 resident George Caffaro.
“Are we going to keep parklands. Like, we have a lot of nice older areas here as well. But, looking at are we over developing our newer areas along the west side of the Henday,” says Ward 5 resident Rebecca Peterson.
“I’m especially interested in what there view points are in decreasing crime in the inner city areas like Spruce Avenue, McDougall, Norwood, The Avenue, McCauley because there still is a lot of crime,” says Ward 2 resident Elke Siebels.
There are seven candidates running for council in Ward 2 and nine candidates running to represent Ward 5.
Five locations opened Tuesday for advanced polls.
