3 injured, suspects outstanding after daytime armed robbery at St. Catharines mall

Three people have been injured after a shooting at a mall in St. Catharines Wednesday morning, according to police.

Niagara Regional Police (NRPS) say the incident is connected to an armed robbery at Fairview Mall on Geneva Street and North Service Road just after 11:00 a.m.

“Upon arrival, officers confirmed Karat Jewellers had been robbed at gun point,” NRPS said in a release.

“Two individuals inside the store were sprayed with a substance believed to be ‘bear spray.’ As the suspect fled the store, shots were fired, and an individual was struck.”

Three people were transported to hospital with the shooting victim sent to an out of town trauma centre for more advanced treatment.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the individual was listed in serious condition with non-life threating injuries.

Two others, hit by the spray, were treated locally.

Detectives say the two suspects fled on a “sports” motorcycle.

The bike was last seen on the QEW, Toronto bound.

The suspects were both dressed in dark clothing.

One was wearing a yellow/gold helmet while the other had on a dark half-helmet.

The suspects are considered armed and dangerous and NRPS are urging residents to call 911, if seen.
