Charges pending after bizarre police pursuit

SASKATOON – Multiple charges are pending for two men after a high speed pursuit led Saskatoon Police to uncovering drugs on Wednesday.

Around 1 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in a school zone at 33rd Street and Northumberland Avenue.

A green Mustang refused to stop and then sped away from police at a high rate of speed.

Shortly after, Saskatoon police received a report that the suspect vehicle had become stuck in a construction zone off 33rd and two men fled on foot.

A canine unit successfully located one man found hiding in a bush.

Police say the second suspect fled to a nearby home, asked people there to call a taxi and was arrested while waiting for a cab.

He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

No injuries were reported.
