Amber Alert ends for 3-year-old girl reported missing in Barrie

An amber alert has been cancelled for a three-year-old girl who went missing in Barrie, Ont.

The girl was found safe and in “good health,” officials said.

Police issued the alert for the missing child just after 12 a.m. on Wednesday.

Barrie Police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said officers were initially called by a “community based agency” on Tuesday where two children were supposed to be at a residence, but only one was present.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the home, but were unable to find the second child.

Police said the girl was found in Toronto by Toronto police in good health and arrangements were made to return her to Barrie.

After about nine hours from when the Amber Alert was issued, the missing girl was found.

The Amber Alert was cancelled just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
