REGINA – The case of a missing elderly man in Herbert, Sask has turned from a missing person into a homicide.
On Monday RCMP charged 25-year-old Zuo Yu (Jerry) Qiu of Herbert, Sask with second degree murder in the death of 79-year-old Henry Gin.

“Investigators located the remains of Henry Gin in a rural area less than 10 kilometers south east of Morse and it appears that Mr. Gin was the victim of an assault,” said Sgt. Kim Rusk of the RCMP in Morse.
On September 11th the family of Gin reported him missing after his friends and family were unable to contact him for several days.

Qiu has been remanded and will appear in Swift Current provincial court on September 18th.
An autopsy on the body of Henry Gin will be conducted at a later time.
