As avid skiers and snowboarders prepare for the season, some resorts say they will require proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
Revelstoke Mountain Resort will be requiring all guests 12 years of age and older to provide proof they are fully vaccinated as of Nov. 18.
“The safety, health, and well-being of those who work at and visit Revelstoke Mountain Resort remain our first and highest priority,” the company posted to its website.
The resort will require proof of vaccination to access all resort facilities including the gondola, in addition to face masks.
The BC Vaccine Card in addition to government-issued ID will be accepted.
Grouse Mountain will also require proof of vaccination starting on Nov. 27 or opening day, whichever comes first.
“We believe implementing this policy over the winter season will provide the strongest protection against COVID-19 to those who visit and work at the mountain,” resort president Michael Cameron said in an online statement.
Other ski resorts, such as Big White and Whistler Blackcomb, will not require visitors to be fully immunized.
“The lifts are all outdoor but one, and that one is the gondola where the ride is only about three minutes and it is mandatory to wear a mask because you are inside with others,” Big White Ski Resort vice president Michael Ballingall said.
All staff will be required to have gotten both shots, he added. Whistler Blackcomb will require the same thing.
Most mountains will be opening at the end of the month.
