Officials say a man in his 70s has been critically injured after a hit-and-run in Toronto’s west end on Tuesday.
Police said emergency crews were called to the scene at Martin Grove Road and Eglinton Avenue West just after 3 p.m.
Police said a vehicle was travelling south on Martin Grove approaching Eglinton when the driver attempted to make a turn and lost control.
The vehicle then crashed into a bus shelter where the victim was also struck.
Toronto paramedics said the man was taken to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition.
Meanwhile, police said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the crash and the car was later located abandoned a “short distance” from the intersection.
The driver of the vehicle was still reported to be outstanding Tuesday evening.
Toronto police’s Traffic Services Unit is now investigating and is appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam video to contact officers.
