Canada election results: Courtenay–Alberni

Global News projects Gord Johns of the NDP has been re-elected in the riding of Courtenay–Alberni.

With 266 of 269 polls reporting, Johns had 44.2 per cent of the vote, ahead of Conservative candidate Mary Lee and Susan Farlinger of the Liberals.

Johns has been the only federal representative that constituents of Courtenay–Alberni have ever known.

Before that, parts of the seat were served by Conservative John Duncan.

Duncan lost to Johns in 2015 when the electoral boundaries were redrawn.

Johns, a former Tofino councillor, won again in 2019 with 41.2 per cent of the vote.

The riding includes the District of Tofino, the Village of Cumberland, the City of Courtenay, the Town of Qualicum Beach, and the City of Parksville.

Conservative Party: Mary Lee

NDP: Gord Johns (incumbent)

Green Party: Susanne Lawson

People’s Party of Canada: Robert Eppich

Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada: Barbara Biley
