Global News is projecting Maninder Sidhu has been re-elected as the Liberal MP for Brampton East.
The Ontario riding of Brampton East is located in the Regional Municipality of Peel, including parts of the city of Brampton.
The riding was previously held by Liberal-turned-Independent Raj Grewal in 2015. Grewal resigned in 2018, citing a gambling problem that led to significant debts.
In September 2020, RCMP laid charges against Grewal, alleging he took millions of dollars in personal loans without telling the federal ethics commissioner.
