Bloc Québécois candidate Mario Beaulieu is the projected winner in the riding of La Pointe-de-l’Île.
The riding includes the neighbourhood of Montreal-East, part of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and part of Riviere-des-Prairies–Pointes-aux-Trembles.
La Pointe-de-l’Île is mostly francophone. Close to 16 per cent of the population in this riding consists of immigrants, with a significant portion hailing from Haiti, Algeria and Morocco.
Arabic, Italian and Spanish are some of the most popular non-official mother tongues in the area.
Mario Beaulieu of the Bloc Québécois was re-elected in La Pointe-de-l’Île in 2019. He was able to snag 26.88 per cent of the vote. Beaulieu faced off against Conservative candidate and Montreal East Mayor Robert Coutu, who came in fourth place.

The Liberal Party’s Jonathan Plamondon garnered 30.4 per cent of the vote, with the NDP’s
Ève Péclet ending the night with 10.9 per cent.
This riding has been a BQ stronghold since the 1990s and has been deemed one of their safest seats. However, Péclet made a breakthrough when she was elected in 2011’s so-called “orange wave.”
