Canada election results: Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine

Liberal Diane Lebouthillier is the projected winner in the riding of Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

The riding consists of the regional county municipalities of La Haute-Gaspésie, La Côte-de-Gaspé, Le Rocher-Percé and Bonaventure. It is located on the eastern point of the Gaspé Peninsula and the Magdalen Islands.

Liberal Diane Lebouthillier was first elected MP of the riding in 2015. She won the seat again in the 2019 election with 42.5 per cent of the vote. Lebouthillier is also the minister of national revenue.

The riding was held by the Bloc Québécois from 2004 until 2011, when it was taken over by the NDP’s Philip Toone.

According to the 2016 census, 91.5 per cent of the district speak French and 8.2 per cent speak English.
