Liberal candidate Sean Casey is projected to win his fourth term representing the P.E.I. riding of Charlottetown.
Casey won with 47 per cent of the vote, well ahead of Conservative candidate Doug Curry who secured just over a quarter of ballots cast.
Casey most recently served as parliamentary secretary to the minister of fisheries, oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard. He is currently the chair of the standing committee on human resources, skills and social development and the status of persons with disabilities.
The riding of Charlottetown includes the provincial capital of the same name. It is located in the central-eastern area of the province.
This riding has been Liberal since 1988. Prior to that, the Tories held the seat for 20 years.
