Incumbent Chris d’Entremont is projected to be re-elected in West Nova.
This rural district of West Nova covers communities and small towns across the province’s southern tip. It runs along the Annapolis Valley and Nova Scotia’s Bay of Fundy.
This riding is known for its fishing, farming and tourism. Liberal candidate Coline Campbell made history in West Nova back in 1974. She was the first woman from Nova Scotia to be elected in the House of Commons.
This riding marked the first major upset in the province during the 2019 election. Conservative candidate Chris d’Entremont managed to swing the riding, winning 39.3 per cent of the vote.
West Nova was the only riding in Nova Scotia that didn’t vote Liberal in the 2019 election.
D’Entremont was able to grab 39.3 per cent of the vote, while newcomer Liberal candidate Jason Deveau came in second with 36.4 per cent. The Green Party came in third, polling well in comparison to the 2015 election. Green Party candidate Judy N. Green won 12.7 per cent of the vote, with NDP Matthew Dubois grabbing 10.7 per cent of the vote.
Liberal Colin Fraser was the riding’s MP in the 2015 election. He did not seek re-election in 2019, with his assistant Jason Deveau running in his place.
