London police are investigating a suspicious house fire Sunday evening southeast of downtown London.
Fire crews were called to a fire at an unoccupied single-storey house on Hamilton Road at Horton Street after 6 p.m. Sunday.
Platoon Chief Shawn Fitzgerald says it took about an hour for crews to get the fire under control.

“We had an old single-storey residence with heavy fire and smoke from the building when we arrived,” Fitzgerald said.
“The biggest challenge was the amount of smoke coming from this fire, just an old wooden structure that generated a lot of smoke.”
The house is believed to be unoccupied. Officials say no one was inside the structure when emergency crews arrived.
The fire has been deemed suspicious, and London police and Office of the Fire Marshal are investigating.
Fitzgerald says an initial damage estimate is in the $300,000 range.
“There was heat damage to the building next door, window broken and some other damage from the heat of the fire.”
London police had closed a portion of Hamilton Road Sunday while emergency crews were on scene.
No injuries are being reported.
