TORONTO — Canadian music duo Tegan and Sara joined Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on stage Saturday at Montreal’s Osheaga Festival for a special performance of the hit “Same Love.”
The Calgary-born sisters, who had performed for the festival crowd earlier, were greeted by loud cheers when they were introduced by Macklemore, whose real name is Ben Haggerty.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis then launched into their song about equality and acceptance of gay people.
Tegan and Sara sang the chorus, which was performed by Mary Lambert on the original recording of the track.

At the end of the song, Macklemore urged the thousands of fans at the festival to raise their hands in the air.
“If you believe in equality for all human beings in the world let me see you put a ‘1’ to the sky like this,” he said.
This year’s Osheaga Festival attracted 135,000 people to Parc Jean Drapeau.
The three-day festival included performances by The Cure, Beck, New Order and Mumford & Sons.
