2 people accused of attempted murder in central Hamilton stabbing: police

Hamilton police have one person in custody and are looking for another in connection with a late-night stabbing in central Hamilton that investigators are now characterizing as an attempted murder.

The two suspects, a 33-year-old Hamilton woman and a 27-year-old man, are accused of “viciously” attacking a man visiting an acquaintance at 646 Main Street East near Burris Street around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Detectives say the pair beat the 30-year-old man when he entered the building and stole his Acura sedan after grabbing his keys.

A fourth person in the incident attempted to help the victim during the assault. That man was arrested by police on scene responding to a 911 call.

He was later released when officers determined the individual was not a suspect.

Investigators say one of the assailants jumped out a window to avoid police upon arrival.

The victim suffered critical injuries and is in stable condition in hospital.

The woman involved in the assault returned to the scene and was arrested. She’s facing an attempted murder charge.

Police are still seeking the second assailant accused of attempted murder and robbery.

 

The suspect is known to police and can be identified by a “mohawk style” haircut, tattoos on his arms and neck, and a teardrop tattoo under his right eye.

He’s considered armed and dangerous and could be in possession of the Acura he stole which detectives believe is missing its front bumper.
