The Edmonton Police Service says an autopsy has determined that a man found dead in north Edmonton on Tuesday night was killed in a shooting.
Police were called to the area of 121 Street and 146 Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a weapons complaint.
In a news release issued Wednesday, police said officers found 25-year-old Abdirahman Hashi dead inside a vehicle. A 22-year-old man was also found injured inside the vehicle. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said Hashi’s death, which was originally deemed suspicious, has now been ruled homicide.
“Homicide detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about this death to contact the EPS,” police said Wednesday.
“In addition, investigators are asking any residents who live on 121 Street between 153 Avenue and 139 Avenue that have residential cameras — or anyone travelling that route who has dashcam footage — to contact police.”
Police did not say if they have identified a suspect or suspects in the shooting.
