Peel Regional Police say two people are dead and six others are injured after a car crash in Mississauga on Thursday morning.
Emergency crews were called to McLaughlin Road South, just south of the Highway 407 overpass, shortly after 7 a.m. for a two-vehicle collision.
Const. Bancroft Wright said the crash was a head-on collision between two sedans.
Two people were pronounced dead on scene.
“CPR was administered to a number of occupants of both vehicles, but unfortunately two people succumbed to their injuries,” Wright told reporters.
In one car there were five occupants, and in the other car there were three occupants, police said.
According to investigators, in the car with five people — two were taken to a trauma centre, two were taken to a local hospital and one person died.
In the second car with three people — two were taken to a trauma centre and one person died, police said.
Thursday afternoon police told Global News the two victims who died were women, one from each car involved. They also said there were no children involved in the crash.
Investigators have not released the ages or genders of other victims involved in the collision.
Officers have closed the area for the investigation and said it will be shut down for some time.
