Around 6:30 a.m. emergency crews were called to Market Plaza on George St. for reports of an altercation. Two people were taken to hospital — one to a Toronto-area trauma centre — following a reported stabbing outside a Peterborough plaza parking lot Tuesday morning.

Around 6:30 a.m., emergency crews were called to the Market Plaza parking lot on George Street for a reported fight and stabbing and that two male victims had suffered injuries.

According to police, the two victims were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

An official with Ornge confirms with Global News that an air ambulance transported one person related to a stabbing incident to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

Police say the other victim remains at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

“This investigation is in its very early stages,” police issued in a statement. “Police remain on scene and we continue to ask the public to remain out of the area. There is currently no known threat to public safety.”
