Around 8:06 a.m., fire crews received an alarm in connection to the blaze at 1125 Gatewood Road.

“Upon arrival, crews encountered smoke conditions at that residence, so they attacked the fire in an offensive strategy for search, rescue, and fire control,” said Platoon Chief Kirk Loveland.

The department says that crews were quick to have the fire under control and primary and secondary searches of the house are complete.

The London Fire Department says no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident but can confirm that two dogs were rescued during the primary search.

Platoon Chief Loveland says a damage estimate is not yet available.

A fire investigator has been called into the scene to determine a cause.

“It is believed to have originated in the kitchen, however, at this time the fire prevention’s officer is on scene conducting an investigation to determine cause of the fire,” said Platoon Chief Loveland.

Middlesex London Paramedics and London Police are also assisting at the scene.

Fire crews were also called out to a second incident on Forward Ave Wednesday morning involving a smoking freezer.

“The incident on Forward Ave was actually a freezer smoking. So, when they arrived on scene, they found a defective freezer and were able to isolate it, said Platoon Chief Loveland.
