Ottawa police identify body found behind Samuel Genest high school Monday night​

Police say the man found dead behind an Ottawa high school Monday night was shot.

Police said on Twitter on Monday evening that emergency crews were called to Collège catholique Samuel-Genest on Carsons Road, near Aviation Parkway and Montreal Road, at around 5:15 p.m.

The update said the man’s body was found on a walking path behind the school. The person was identified Tuesday morning as 21-year-old Mohamed Hassan.

A cause of death has not been determined as the results of an autopsy are still pending, but the Ottawa police Twitter account confirmed Tuesday afternoon the man was shot.

The police homicide unit is leading the investigation.
