TORONTO — Actor-singer John Barrowman married his longtime partner Tuesday in California.
The 46-year-old, who stars in the made-in-Vancouver series Arrow, tied the knot with Scott Gill, an architect, after two decades together.
The couple had a civil partnership ceremony in Wales in 2006.
In a video show on the way to a courthouse Tuesday, Barrowman said: “Thank you, Supreme Court. It’s about time you made it legal.”
The U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act on June 26.
Barrowman, perhaps best known as Captain Jack Harkness on Torchwood, spent time in Toronto in 2008 while serving as a judge on the CBC competition series How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?
In addition to his stage and screen work, he has released several albums and published the memoir Anything Goes.
