B.C.-shot series ‘Falling Skies’ renewed for 4th season

TORONTO — The made-in-Vancouver series Falling Skies has been renewed for a fourth season on U.S. cable network TNT.

The series stars Noah Wyle as a history professor who leads a group of civilians in Boston fighting aliens who have invaded Earth.

Toronto-born actor Connor Jessup plays one of Wyle’s sons.

The show’s pilot episode and first season were filmed in Southern Ontario but seasons 2 and 3 were shot in B.C..

Production of the new 10-episode season will resume there in the fall and debut next summer.

Falling Skies is averaging 5.8 million viewers in the U.S.and is the No. 1 scripted series on basic cable in key demographics. It airs in Canada on Super Channel and Space.

Among the executive producers of the series is Steven Spielberg, whose new series Lucky 7 will begin filming in Toronto in mid-July.

TNT has not yet announced if it will order a second season of King & Maxwell, which is also shot in Vancouver.
