The closure followed heavy rains throughout the city on Friday afternoon. City officials say the rains caused “ponding” on the roadway forcing the closure.

The intersection reopened shortly after 7 p.m. Friday.

Black Creek runs north-south just west of the intersection and was the site of heavy flooding in 2005 that washed out a portion of Finch Avenue.

City crews are also monitoring low level areas in the city including the bottom of the Don Valley Parkway and Rosedale Valley Road.

The bottom of the DVP was the site of intense flooding in May.

Lakeshore Boulevard near Exhibition Place was also closed for a short time Friday afternoon due to flooding.
