Rain floods south Winnipeg

WINNIPEG — Buildings had to be evacuated and roads were closed as a rain storm flooded Winnipeg on Thursday night.

The Winnipeg Ikea at Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway had to be evacuated after it was flooded. A YouTube video showed water gushing out of an opening in the floor in the front entrance.

Water seeped under the doors from a flooded parking lot at Linden Christian School, another YouTube video shows.

A notice sent to parents said damage was limited due to a quick response by the property team and staff and parents attending a concert. Classes were on as usual on Friday.
