A WestJet flight headed from Calgary to London, U.K. was turned around shortly after departing on Wednesday night because of a “landing gear door issue,” a spokesperson for the airline confirmed to Global News.
Flight WS001 was scheduled to take off at 7:45 p.m., but in an email to Global News, Lauren Stewart said the pilot of the plane carrying 305 passengers “made the decision to conduct an air turn back shortly after departure.”
Stewart said the flight “landed normally” and was inspected by a maintenance team.
Stewart said guests would be reboarded, and the flight would take off within an hour after landing.
“We again apologize to our guests and thank them for their patience during this situation,” she added.
