Thick fog Monday morning prompted a fog advisory for Edmonton and the surrounding region, stretching down past Red Deer to the Drumheller area.
Environment Canada said near-zero visibility fog would persist through the morning hours and gradually dissipate during the day.
At 10:30 a.m., the fog advisory was lifted for the Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park area. The advisories for the remaining areas north, south and east of the city were all lifted as of 3 p.m. However, as of 3:45 p.m. they were re-issued.
Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some places, so drivers are advised to slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
