A woman in her 70s is dead and two other people have been injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Etobicoke Wednesday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Queens Plate Drive and Rexdale Boulevard, west of Highway 27, just before 6:45 p.m. with reports of a collision.
A Toronto Paramedics spokesperson told Global News a woman died at the scene. The spokesperson said a man was taken to hospital in serious condition and a third patient was treated for minor injuries.
Investigators from the Toronto police traffic services unit were called in to gather evidence and probe the circumstances leading up to the crash.
“We’ve got three vehicles in total and two of them are significantly damaged,” Det. Brett Moore told reporters Wednesday evening.
“One of the vehicles lost contact with the ground and it’s on its side now. The other vehicle obviously lost control, mounted the sidewalk and came to rest here in the intersection.”
