Severe thunderstorm warnings lifted across Alberta on Thursday night

Parts of Yellowhead County near Cadomin, Alta., and Robb, Alta., were issued a severe thunderstorm warning shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday.

“The severe storm is 75 km southeast of Hinton and is moving southeast at 30 km/h,” Environment Canada said on its website.

The warning in Yellowhead County was lifted at 6:34 p.m. However, just nine minutes later, a new severe thunderstorm warning was issued for other areas in Yellowhead County.

At 8:02 p.m., the second round of warnings issued in Yellowhead County were lifted.

The weather agency said the storm was “capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel-sized hail and heavy rain.”

At 5:14 p.m., parts of Clearwater County were also issued a severe thunderstorm warning. At 8:34 p.m., the warning issued for the Clearwater County area was lifted.

At 6:23 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued to parts of the M.D. of Bighorn. That warning was lifted 42 minutes later.

At 6:46 p.m., severe thunderstorm warnings were issued in parts of Mountain View County and Rocky View County.

At 7:03 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the O’Chiese 203 reserve. At 8:34 p.m., the warning issued for the O’Chiese 203 reserve was lifted.

At 7:12 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of Brazeau County.

At 7:33 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the County of Two Hills.

At 7:35 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the County of Wetaskiwin. Environment Canada said its meteorologists were “tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel- to ping pong-ball-sized hail and heavy rain.”

At 8:34 p.m., the warning issued for the County of Wetaskiwin was lifted.

At 7:46 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of Lac Ste. Anne County. At 8:02 p.m., the warning issued in Lac Ste. Anne County was lifted.

At 8:02 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of the County of Minburn.

As of 9:08 p.m., there were no longer any severe thunderstorm warnings in effect across Alberta.
