CALGARY – Police have charged a 26-year-old man with the murder of a mother and her son in the community of Evanston, on Thursday.
Chona Manzano, 35, and her 5-year-old son Gabriel Manzano were found dead in a home the 200 block of Evanspark Circle around 1 p.m.
Shortly after, police began searching for a vehicle seen leaving the scene, and pulled over one matching its description on a rural road between Didsbury and Olds. The driver was taken into custody by police.
Police have charged Guevara Wilson Clorina with two counts of second-degree murder.
Police believe he is related to the victims, but isn’t an immediate family member, and didn’t live in the same home as them.
Police haven’t yet released the cause of death.
