The organization said 14 cars went off the tracks at the CN Sarcee Yard in the area of 50 Avenue S.E. and 30 Street S.E. at 7 p.m.
Innes Fraser with the Calgary Fire Department said two conductors were on the train at the time but were uninjured and able to get out safely.
He said the cars were empty and no spills were reported.

“There are nine cars that are dry cars — they were empty — and there are four cars that are tanker cars, which would be more serious. Those cars were placarded with ‘diesel fuel.’ We’ve since found out it’s just residue in those cars so they’re also empty, and no cars [are] leaking,” Fraser said.
In a statement emailed to Global News on Wednesday, CN said there was no danger to public safety.
