Man arrested after senior assaulted at Danforth coffee shop: Toronto police

Toronto police have arrested a man involved in a Greektown neighbourhood assault where an elderly man fell and hit his head on the pavement after he was reportedly punched by a stranger.

Officers were called to a coffee shop on Danforth Avenue near Gough Avenue just after 5 p.m. Sunday where a man sitting in the patio area yelled and lunged at another man.

Police said it was a random attack and a 78-year-old man sustained serious injuries. The suspect then fled the scene, police said.

Investigators have arrested 62-year-old Barry Dennison of Toronto. Police have charged him with aggravated assault.

Dennison is schedule to appear in court on June 17, police said.
