WINNIPEG – Three teenage inmates were quickly recaptured after escaping from a youth detention centre in Manitoba Sunday.
RCMP say the boys scaled the fence of the Agassiz Youth Centre in Portage la Prairie just after 7 p.m. Sunday. Mounties assisted by a police dog and the Sandy Bay Dakota Bay Ojibway Police found one escapee close by; two others were found at a home on Lorne Avenue in Portage la Prairie. All three were arrested peacefully.
They remain in custody facing charges of escaping from lawful custody and being unlawfully at large and are scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie provincial court on Monday.
RCMP announced the arrests in a news release Monday but provided no further details.
