A woman was airlifted to hospital in serious, but stable condition after a collision west of Edmonton on Friday morning.
RCMP said a head-on collision happened on Highway 627/Garden Valley Road near Range Road 275 in Parkland County at around 7:40 a.m.
According to police, a van was driving east on the road south of Stony Plain and was attempting a u-turn, when it was hit by a SUV driving west on the highway.

STARS Air Ambulance was called to the scene by paramedics.
AHS and police said the 37-year-old woman driving the van was airlifted to hospital by STARS with serious injuries, although she was in stable condition.
The 45-year-old driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries, RCMP said.

No one else was taken to hospital, according to AHS.
