Golf fans will be happy to know that despite snow on the ground, Shooters Family Golf Centre on Main Street is getting into the swing of spring by opening up its driving range Thursday.

The three City of Winnipeg golf courses typically open later in spring, with all three starting their seasons last year in the last week of April.

Popular local ice cream joints, however, aren’t waiting until the ice is off the ground before opening their doors to hungry customers.

Sargent Sundae, a St. James mainstay across Portage Avenue from Assiniboine Park, opened its doors last Friday, while the popular Bridge Drive-In on Jubilee reportedly starts its season this coming Friday at 2 p.m.

Registration for spring activities is also underway, as Leisure Guide sign-ups started on Tuesday.
