Kitchener Rangers double up Erie Otters

A hat trick from Riley Damiani helped the Kitchener Rangers record a 6-3 win over the Otters in Erie on Wednesday night.

Damiani opened the scoring on the power play at the 8:35 mark of the first period. Joseph Garreffa and Rickard Hugg would record assists on the play extending the former’s point streak to 18 games.

Erie would answer quickly with a goal from Jack Duff less than a minute later and that would close out the scoring for the opening stanza.

The Otters would get the advantage at the 15:31 mark of the second period on a goal from Mathew MacDougall but the Rangers would be the ones to answer quickly this time as Damiani would score again less than a minute later.

The second period would end in a 2-2 deadlock.

Garreffa would open the scoring just under two minutes into the third as the Rangers would go in front for good.

His goal was followed by a marker from Alexey Lipanov before Gera Poddubnyi countered for Erie.

A third goal from Damiani and an empty-netter from Jonathan Yantsis would close out the scoring.

Luke Richardson continued his stellar play for Kitchener as he would make 36 saves to record the win.
